What or I guess where is this iastor driver?

I found one driver on the Intel site and it stated it was for Intel moboards though it may work on others.

Actually it is the Rapid storage.

Once I was doing some minor wiring inside the computer with it running. (I know, but I have never followed the rules) at any rate I disconnescte the SSD sata cable from the sata connector by mistake. Surprisingly, it took a few seconds then the computer went black and crashed. As I recall I had to do a hard shutdown. I reconnected the sata cable, started and got the usual warning, and it booted into windows with no ill effects. I would assume that is about what would happen if you ejected the C drive. I think I mistakenly did that.

It can be downloaded from Intel in the link A Guy gave us earlier or usually with your mobo drivers.

That's the one, though I'm not sure that link still points to the latest driver.

Your Core i7 system qualifies as an Intel motherboard since it uses the Intel chipset. If your board is like mine and also has another controller (my second one is by JMicron, my housemate's is by Marvel) you'll still need the driver for the additional controller in addition to the Intel driver. I would highly recommend that your SSD be installed to the Intel controller in any case, though there may be others with a different point of view. I initially set up my housemates on her Marvel controller but saw a big performance boost when I switched it to the Intel controller.

At least you and your system lived to tell the tale.

It's not possible that I type faster. I type with one finger.

I don't use even one finger. I won't tell you what I do use to type with, but let's just say that I usually have a smile on my face.

profdlp, Can you tell me how this works? I just installed IRST and my SSD is running with the iastor driver. But, to keep it from running my CPU like it did before, I set it to manual. But, if it is not running and that is where the iastor driver somes from, will the iastor work right?
