I did read up on the overclocking but I just do not understand the details behind it so I did what I could based on what I read.

I forgot to mention that I flashed the Bios to version 1301.
That's not really overclocking. If you bought 1600MHz memory and want it to run at 1600MHz speeds that's what you'll need to do to get it running. It's the memory you bought. If you're happy with it at 1066, do nothing. It'll just run underclocked at 1066.

And unless that BIOS adds automatic XMP enabling, updating the BIOS won't change the memory settings.

    Again, just providing info.

Thanks Sygnus. I would have to ask Shawn if the MB provides the correct voltage as I have no clue! It is set for auto.

    Mike,

It should look similar to this as in my BIOS below. Everything that you see below the "CPU Voltage Control" in the screenshots is set to Auto on mine.

Under Ai Tweaker tab, select DRAM Frequency and press enter.

Select the one closest to your 1600 MHz rating, but not higher, and press enter.

If prompted, select Cancel and press enter to allow the motherboard to auto adjust RAM voltage.

When finished, go to the Exit tab to save your changes and restart.

    Mike,

That's fine. I got close to what you had running it with a 8 MB block size.

    Wolfgang (WHS),

Thank you. Here's what I got with ATTO.

    Attachment 142100

    Those are some fantastic numbers

Rumors are that PCIe will be the standard connection for SSDs soon.
With that I can see why.

That is exactly what I did before you posted it, Thanks Shawn. Did you flash your's with Bios 1301?

You're welcome. What do you have the RAM at now?

Yep, I flashed it with 1301.

Hmm, how would that work on laptops?

PS: The postman just brought a Vertex2 from Newegg for my last laptop that was not SSDd yet. This is the first time they have included a bracket for installation in a 3.5" bay. I thought that was a nice addition.
