It has been running at that speed before you all posted but thanks for the information just the same. I am not that uninformed about Bios settings.

Rumors are that PCIe will be the standard connection for SSDs soon
Hmm, how would that work on laptops?

PS: The postman just brought a Vertex2 from Newegg for my last laptop that was not SSDd yet. This is the first time they have included a bracket for installation in a 3.5" bay. I thought that was a nice addition.
    Good point.

Have read that on a few forums, currently being pushed by business for their servers, will trickle down to us later.

Suppose they will come up with a suitable better connection for laptops.

SSD Faster than a Speeding Bullet!!!

While I understand that SSD's are great with read speeds and almost non-existent access times.....there is no denying that their write speeds are staggeringly bad.

So, my question for the SSD's users out here is what you really think overall about the SSD drive? I'm not talking about a screenshot of a benchmark, or a timed reboot of your machine...but rather what is performance like installing the OS, installing some software, installing some games, etc.

If you want the fastest SSD out there, the get OCZ Revodrive X2 240GB or above. You will get a 7.9 on WEI. I have this and it is so damn fast. I boot Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 in 14 seconds. Everything run so fast and smooth.

No other SSD brands out there can beat OCZ SSD brand Period!!!

The fastest SSD that gives u a 7.9 WEI!!!

Get OCZ REVODRIVE X2 240GB and you will not be disappointed. The read speed for this drive is 740Mb/s and write speed is 720Mb/s. So freakin fast in anything. You don't wait for your apps to load anymore. I test copied a 2gb file within the drive which only takes 4 seconds to complete. Regular HDD takes a couple minutes compare to this SSD.

Not to mention it will give you a 7.9 WEI!!! Damnnnnn!

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I maxed out all my components at 7.9 WEI except my CPU, darn...

    Asus Rampage III Formula
    Nvidia Geforce GTX 580
    Intel Core i7 950 (haven't overclock yet)

    OCZ Revodrive 240GB SSD
    OCZ ZX 1250W PSU

Whilst the Revo drive is an impressive device for moving data around, it does not impress me more than a Vertex2 for the OS operations. From the data I have seen up to now, the operation of the OS in "normal mode" does not seem to be any faster than my Vertex2. I get 16 second boot times too and programs load instantly.

Shawn mentioned that it makes a big difference for Virtual Partitions though. That I cannot compare. And at 240GBs, you probably use it a lot for data also - and there the blazing R/W speeds count. But again, if you only want to speed up your Windows7, a much cheaper Vertex will do the same job.

PS: your i7 950 and the 12GBs of 1600MHz RAM probably contribute to the performance too. I only have an i7 740QM and 4GB of RAM.

Just added a RevoDrive X2 to my system. I was amazed when I moved from a normal hard drive to an SSD. I'm having the same experience, moving from a single SSD to the RevoDrive.
