usb vs hard drive?
Does USB run faster than hard disk drive in reading or writing?
Does USB run faster than hard disk drive in reading or writing?
Can you rephrase that?
One is a storage device; the other is a connection standard.
USB 2.0 speeds are above what any spinner driver can read or write. So, if you are using an external USB 2.0 drive, the bottleneck would be the drive itself, and not the USB 2.0 connection.
Deacon, I would say that this depends on the HDD. USB at 480Mb/sec (appr. 50MB/sec) is faster than some HDDs, but many do better - check the Raptor speeds. http://www.legitreviews.com/article/699/1/
I'm a Velo user lol..been using them since they were first released....next PC will see the end of them for me as SSD's are way faster.
Is the Op asking about flash drives using USB versus normal HDD's using a normal sata connect?
That is magic defying the physics. What magic wand do you use.I have had sustained rates on my usb 2.0 connection on two computers that sustain above the supposed 50MB cap.
some USB3 thumb drives exeed the speed of a current spinning disk.
No USB2 thumb drive comes close.
This one does up to 100MB/sec Read and up to 70MB/sec Write.
