Windows 7: How To Get All Hardware Information Completely?

    Windows 7 Professional

Is there a convenient way, say with one command or click, to get all the hardware information of my system ( example, CPU, RAM, motherboard, video card, sound card, etc ) put into one file?

    Thanks

    Steve

The only one I know of personally is HWiNFO:

HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

It's not perfect, but it's still not bad. For example: it shows my sound card as simply "Creative X-Fi" instead of showing that it's the XtremeGamer.

Type msinfo in the Search field, then click msinfo32.exe. Click on the components in the left pane and then each item to see details in the right pane.

Oh Britton, I recommend that you check out HWiNFO. It's way better than msinfo. Msinfo leaves quite a bit to be desired.

(by the way, typing msinfo into the Start Menu search doesn't bring anything up. I have to type system information)

Maybe I'm old school, but I never understand why people look for software for this type of info. I guess it helps if you inherit a PC for a little, but nothing replaces knowing the info for yourself. If a person builds a computer, they should know every little bit about it. If not, then between device manager and opening the case, you should be able to get all the info you need. I would trust that method much more than software.

But tinker123 needs an easy ability to put it into one file. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to sit here typing it all up if there's software that will basically do that for me.

You wouldn't be typing up a novel...just a few lines. I have a spreadsheet in my SkyDrive account where I keep hardware list of all of my computers, and those of family and friends I support. It takes about 2 minutes to fill out a section for one of the computers. Most of those software apps just read drivers, which can be less-than-descriptive. That's why I recommend knowing the hardware off hand, or knowing how to find it accurately.
