My Laptop says "Consider Replacing Your Battery"?

I turned on my laptop and the battery icon has a x over it and says "Consider Replacing Your Battery" and below it says "There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly" What should I do? I'm fine if I have to leave it plugged in to use it if that matters lol. Thanks

Let me guess without even looking I'm going to say it's a samsung or a dell laptop.

Even so it is more than likely the battery has reached the end of it's life.
There's a million tricks I've seen online to 'refresh' a battery but I've not used one personally that extended the life once it was bad enough to bring up messages.

    Sounds like it.

Worse that can happen is that your laptop shuts down / possibly fail to POST.

I have had an issue with my battery that was similar after a power surge (even tho I was on a surge protector)

I used a battery monitor to test the battery and find out how many times it had been fully drained, fully charged, and its capacity. My battery was fine and doesn't need replacing, but I have seen this warning once before...
