    Hi

You will need to download the raid driver from here

    GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Driver

And then copy onto a memory stick or CD/DVD. Then on the Win7 installation, navigate to the driver location when asked and the installation should continue.

i tried with a usb stick but it says there is no driver and have now tried the driver on the link you provided, still no luck, it dosent get to the point where you would normally install the raid driver and select the drive to install to

What BIOS setting do you have your SATA Controller set to? RAID or ACHI?

Have a look at this sticky:

    Okay

Do you get to the option of selecting Custom Installation? If so, and there is no data that you need on the hard drive, click Drive Options (advanced) and select the partion that you want to format. Only do this if you are happy to lose all data on the HDD.

From the manual for that board,

    need help with raid setup-sataide.png

Make sure you have the DVD drive connected to either SATA port 4 or 5 if it isn't already (these two can be configured independently of the other four when RAID is enabled),

    need help with raid setup-sataide1.png

then double check in the bios that it is set to IDE mode. That should make it so that Windows doesn't ask for a driver for the DVD drive.
