I found a fix in another Windows 7 forum.

When selecting Devices and Printers (Device Stage) in the menu the progress bar would take forever and never display anything - just blank.

Finally discovered it was actually a bluetooth issue in services.

THE FIX at least for me..

'Bluetooth Service" and make sure it has started, right click and set to automatic
"Bluetooth Support Service" and start, set to automatic

This fixed my issue, hopefully yours as well..

    Bluetooth Fix worked for me

Thanks for the tip! It worked for me. So far (1 month or so) I'm not impressed that 7 is much different than problem child Vista?

The recommendation to enable Bluetooth worked. Thank you for the recommendation.

Windows 7 SP1 caused the same problem

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 set my bluetooth support service to a manual start. This caused the Devices and Printers screen to remain blank. Fixed by setting bluetooth support service to automatic start.

This issue has bugged me for a long time. I spent a lot of time searching for solutions on the net, many are given (Bluetooth service, Print spooler, ...), none of them worked for me.

The solution for me turned out to be:

Boot ONE TIME in Safe Mode, then boot normally, problem solved!

This action also solved my issue "Safely Remove Hardware icon does not show devices"
