Suddenly all USB ports stopped working on win 7

That day suddenly my PC's USB ports stopped working. I tried all USB ports with deferent kinds of drives(pendirve, mobile, modem) but computer is not responding. I tried reinstalling my windows 7 but remains same. I also tried Ubuntu, Mint, Hirens Boot CD etc but no OS finds my any kind of USB disc. On windows 7 I tried uninstalling and installing USB drives manually but don't work. In the mean time today at dawn one of my USB modem started working(on Win7) but after some seconds it became like before.

Can anyone figure out which problem I'm facing? Is it related to my hardware?

First place I would start would be update all primary drivers for your PC, what ever flavor you have, desktop/laptop. Go to that vendors website and download and install all the latest drivers. If you have add on specific hardware go to that vendors site for drivers.

The next thing I would do is to rule out any Virus's, malware, spyware and adware that my be lurking about your system. It's known that some of these nasties can and do corrupt system software and hardware.

I had the same problem (all of a sudden).

I expanded "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" branch in the device manager. My USB Root Hubs were showing warning symbol.

I just right clicked each of them, chose "Update Driver Software" and in the popup, chose "Search automatically for updated driver software".

Now the warning symbol in my USB Root Hubs disappeared and devices work without any issue.

I am currently having this exact problem, except there is one USB port still working (which I am constantly having to alternate between my keyboard and mouse). I have two forward USB Ports which still deliver power as my keyboard numlock indicator lights up, but it doesn't receive any data signal.

Device Manager shows an "Unknown Device" in the USB Controllers group, with a yellow triangle around an exclamation point. Somehow, despite that windows doesn't know what it is, it is able to tell me all drivers are up to date for this device.

The problem started just a few minutes ago when I booted my computer, it had been shut down normally about two hours prior. Upon logging into Windows the gadget in the corner of my screen showed an unusual spike in processor usage going up to 45-55% when it's normally around 10% or less at that point in the start up. I was also alerted that new drivers were unable to be installed.

I rebooted and that same scenario played out with no change in the circumstances. I am currently running Ad Aware and Malware Bytes to see if there's a problem there.

Actually, I didn't try any of that. Whenever I find a problem that I don't think I can solve, I do not even bother trying to work it out or find a solution. I immediately ask someone, or a group, that has demonstrated knowledge of whatever the issue involves and the problem fixes itself before they can open their mouths. This method has worked yet again.

I have no idea what the problem was, it was a pain in the butt to log in here and type and post while having to switch the keyboard and mouse out, but when I was done with that I rebooted again (which didn't solve the problem the first time) and it works now.
