USB devices not recognize
I have seen this on the internet but I tried all the procedures including reinstalling Windows 7 Home Premium and I still have the following problem...
The computer keeps making noise that I have plugged and unplugged something in the USB port saying Device is not recognized. Either the list is blank or there is at least one unknown device with six other Unused ports. I have uninstalled all USB drivers, rebooted, and it had rebuild the stack, I made sure all drivers were up to date. I brought up device manager and scan for hardware updates and all USB entries show no errors. Only when I plug in my flash drive or PSP or Ipod touch that it comes up in the list as unknown device. I even tried editing the registry and adding in the variable that looked like it was for Windows Vista and rebooted but it did not help. Finally, I backed up all my personal files and reinstalled Windows 7 - as soon as Windows completed installation, the computer started making the USB unplug and replug noise. I ran chkdsk /F before and a system self test said there was an issue with the SMART test about a checksum failing. I also ran disk cleanup and check disk for errors under accessories.
