    Scanner cannot be started.

Hi, I recently bought a new computer and the whole windows configuration is a mess, I had problems with audio drivers, I have problems with updates, etc. I've been fixing some of them with success, for example I couldn't activate windows firewall and after lurking for a while on the internet I found the solution, I went to gpedit.msc and I found that firewall was not activated, I'm telling you this because I'm almost 90% sure that the problem with my scanner is similar, something is probably not activated or disabled, maybe "windows image acquisition" or something similar or some service that allows windows to communicate with the scanner but I can't find where exactly I have to make some clicks to fix it, I have obviously already tried all possible solutions provided my scanner's manufacturer and none of them worked, I have installed my scanner in other computers with windows 7 and it works perfectly, I'm sure that windows is the problem but I can't find the solution.

    Thanks for your help.

Check in your services area to see anything related to make/model of scanner is started and set to automatic. You might try a system repair with install disc's to see it that might help. Short of that, a complete OS reinstall maybe needed. Personally, if it were me and I had all those problems with a brand new PC, I would do a OS reinstall.
