hp probook 4530s dual hard drive issues

Hello!

I have a hp probook 5430s running windows 7 home 64.

I am trying to get the computer set up to be a mobile DAW for my upcoming deployment and decided to remove the optical drive and install another hard drive to put my huge libraries on so they don't take up all of my C drive. The computer recognized the drive just fine and I'm able to transfer files between the two drives and run all programs with absolutely no problem. The new drive is a Seagate 500 gig by the way... When I turn it on it boots up very fast with no issues at all.

The problem is when I want to close the lid, reset, sleep, or shut-down. with sleep, reset, and shut down it goes to the blue screen where it shows you logging off like normal and then the screen turns black (when I close the lid screen turns black after closed and stays black) I can hear the drives stop spinning like normal but the power button stays on. And at that point the only way I can use the computer again is to hold down power button to make it completely shut down then turn back on whenever I want to use it again, and again it starts up great.

I don't know if the computer is looking for the optical drive still to complete the full shut down cycle or what. The main errors I keep seeing in event log are BTHUSB, HPDSKFLT, the following boot-start drivers failed to load:cdrom. But they didnt show up last time I started computer except for bthusb which always shows up.

In bios I disabled cdrom and that seemed to fix one of the errors so far and I put the main hard drive to boot before the expansion drive now.

Again, the computer recognizes the 2nd drive as a partition just fine and its fully functional. If ANYONE can help me solve this black screen issue I would appreciate it. Ive done the latest updates and checked a few of the drivers for updates and seem to be most recent... to include the latest bios update.

i hope you don't get too excited seeing a reply here, because i don't know the solution. But, I was wondering how you have progressed with this problem. I would love to extend disk space in this maner. Any luck? I really hope so.
