USB Devices not working after windows loaded

    Hello,

I have a computer on which the usb devices stop working/receiving power once windows has loaded (they work up untill windows finishes loading). I installed windows on a different disk everything else remained the same, now the mouse and kb work.

Is there a known fix for this? If not is it possible somehow to transfer the user settings from one disk to another, so i get the same settings on the new drive perhaps (mind you, no mouse or kb support on one of those windows)?

I have tried a lot of windows disk fix things, none of them have any effect, very strange, have never seen this before.

Usually i get pretty much everything fixed using google, but this one...

Later i can try a ps2 kb but from what i've read this won't do much i'm afraid..

Wasn't sure where to put this, hope this is allright.

I've been at it all day i'll try and fill in more blanks tomorrow

hi and hello to the forums :)

    please try the steps below

Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager ->

Click the + next to USB and look for USB Root Hub.

Right click each one and go to Properties and then the Power Management tab.
Untick the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.'

    Press OK

    Hi,

thanks for the info, problem is in that particular windows i cannot operate the mouse or keyboard to navigate anywhere... What i would need i imagine is to replace a file(s) in that windows install that has to do with usb or something..? But i have no clue wich one(s). I installed the same windows on the same machine just on another disk (also a 60 gb ssd).

I have now been able to try a ps2 kb and it has the same problem, cant type or do anything with it as soon as windows is past the welcome screen and everything is loaded.

I have tried most bios settings, none make a difference, since it works with another windows install it is unlikely that is it. Is there anyway to start a windows "upgrade setup" through booting from the windows disk? If i choose that option when booting from dvd it tells me to stat it through windows, wich i cant do...

Also how do i copy files to the windows folder when the drive with the problems is set to secondary drive in another windows, if i want to say copy the drivers folder from a working windows install onto the faulty windows it says i need permission and won't copy the files, even though i am logged in as administrator and have full rights.
