New Windows 7 install, cannot detect my 2nd harddrive (except in BIOS)
Hey all! Thanks in advance for any help for a new Windows 7 user.
Yesterday I ran into the 'Installing Step 3 of 3' reboot loop of death on my Dell XPS Windows Vista machine and I had to take the plunge and get some professional help to (hopefully - it was $80 at CompUSA and they did it in about 6 hours) backup all my documents and pictures on that drive to an old, internal drive, that I had sitting in the machine from when I upgraded to a bigger better harddrive last fall in preparation for a new MMO release ( I know.. I know... :)).
I was never able to get the two harddrives working in Vista together, but I had hopes with a new OEM Windows 7 Home Premium install that perhaps I would get lucky enough to plug both in and BAM, Windows 7 would see the old Vista drive and I'd happily copy over ITUNES, pictures, Word documents etc.
In BIOS the machine sees the drive in SATA 1 (the bigger, newer, Western Digital drive is in SATA 0).
I've come in Windows 7, did the right click Computer->Manage->Storage->Disk Management look and I don't see it listed as per one forum posting to 'enable' it.
In System Tools->Device Manager->Disk Drives it doesn't show up either.
Am I missing something in BIOS?
Sorry if I'm missing any information, I'll try to fill in anything I can. Thanks!
