I'm also suspecting it's showing Fahrenheit. 106 F is a very acceptable 41 C.
I'm with ignatzatsonic on this. If you computer is working properly, it's unlikely to have temps that high. The "thermometer" may be culprit.
If he is reading temps i Farenheit, it is normal for this CPU. After reading some reviews on the CPU, everyone is mentioning the high temps.
It's in Celsius. When i check the Fahrenheit box, it shows over 220 degrees. I use SpeedFan.
to ignatzatsonic: I would enter bios to check the temp, I don't know how though. I wouldnt care at all about the temp if I hadn't noticed a severe slowdown when using the computer. And yes, no overclocking.
Btw, i thought I kept this for another post, but after startup, CPU is at 100% without me doing anything. No scans, no backups, every program in the task manager list it's at 0%, still both the cpus are at max. This goes on for like 10 minutes, after which the usage drops to a normal 2-4% rate.
to p5bdkw: No BSOD. The fact is i had this problem, as I said, 3 months ago, when i had it to a specialist to be dusted. It simply shuts down when the temp reaches a peak level.
Could a virus or Malware cause a 100% usage at start up like OP describes? Could it be helpful to sweep system in safe mode to eliminate this as a possibility? It does sound like a mechanical problem though but system sounds like it is getting cool air and cooler is functioning properly.
Sounds like a poorly seated heat sink with either too little or way too much thermal paste to me;
At least that was my experience (took me 3 tries to apply my own paste and set my heat sink and get it right, now with proper air flow i idle at 25*C or lower)
What kind of case do you have? Is it well ventilated? I agree. it sounds like a bad heatsink, or bad installation. Maybe consider a third party heatsink. Some are not expensive at all. artic silver installation instructions. There are several methods.
