Good job! Glad you got it fixed.
This was precisely the problem in my case, spent 2 freaking days re-installing and fighting the printer only to realize DHCP server has given out printer's address to another device on the network. Solution was as simple as:
1. Reconfigure DHCP on the router/server to exclude a pool of addresses from the automatic DHCP giveaway, in my case I left out the first 50 for printers and other static IP devices:
Router/gateway IP: 192.168.1.254
DHCP pool: 192.168.1.51-192.168.1.253
Mask: 255.255.255.0
This way I was able to set up static IP on the HP M1217 MFP printer to 192.168.1.11
After resetting the router everything works perfectly.
Hope this helps.
Wouldn't the optimal solution, vs reserving IP address, be to configure setup with the printer hostname? Since the hostname will never change this seems easier than fiddling with the router config.
I'll have to try that with my Brother laser which is wireless. Thanks
I think I prefer assigning a fixed IP address though.
