Can I replace SATA 1 HDD with SATA 2 HDD??
The hard drive in my son's laptop has died, it's a SATA 1 (1.5Gb/s) drive. Can I upgrade it to a SATA 2 (3.0 Gb/s) hard disk?? It's in a Toshiba laptop.
Many thanks in advance.

Well, "yes you can" is a bit vague. Absolutely, you can plug in a SATA-II harddisk, but it will run at SATA-I speed. Not really a problem as even 1.5Gb/sec is still faster than most harddisks out there.
Point being: SATA-II is backwards-compatible to SATA-I.
Maybe, but vagueness leads to confusion down the road. :)
