Best place to start is to make sure you have the correct driver for it installed. Each device needs a driver to allow the software to talk to the hardware. Go to MS and find the correct driver (32 bit or 64bit) for your camera and install it.

Can you check in device manager?

Please go to start>search>type device manager. (for Win 7 and Vista)

Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Was there any extra software that came with the webcam?
Zigzag sounds confused, I think he thinks your webcam isn't working, but you say you use it in Skype and MSN so obviously it is working.

Zeph, not confused at all. Skype and MSN may use the same driver (or may not) but the features may all not be installed from the mfr, besides it cant hurt to check.
