I have recently installed Windows 7 and cannot get my HP 1020 Laserjet to work, either.

I wanted to try the solution listed here - but I am nervous about deleting "All HP software" - my computer is an HP!

How do I know what to delete?

    Thanks in advance.

When you go to programs and features in your control panel you are just looking for any printer related software. The reason being that you must delete any drivers that you have already tried but did not work for you. Hope this helps. Welcome to Seven Forums reporter20

    64 Bit Driver released.

Hp has released the 64 bit printer driver for the Laser Jet 1020 in Windows 7
Go to HP support and download.

New here with the same issue. On the "Devices and Printers" control panel, I have my HP Laserjet 1020 in the UNSPECIFIED category. I had this working from the first time I loaded up my computer about 3 months ago until today. I can't get the icon out of the unspecified area or find any other way to purge the driver and retry. Any help would be appreciated. This is not a networked printer: it is just connected to my laptop with a USB cable.

Newbie here. I had a working driver for my Laserjet 1020 for three months sice I first loaded up my computer. This afternoon, the icon in the Devices and Printers control panel moved to the UNSPECIFIED category. I can't remove it or find a way to purge the old drivers so that I can try a fresh driver install. I also have a HP 6110, but it works with no problem. The printer is USB connected right to the computer; no networking. HELP?!

Nope. Can't get at driver remnants

Thanks for your response. I couldn't find a spot where Revo let's you delete a driver except through the normal windows methods. So I still have my printer icon on the Devices and Printers window under "Unspecified" and I can't get rid of it.
