    ram upgade on win7 home premium 64bit


    i upgrade my ram from 5gb 10600 to 16gb 12800 and it shows that i have 16gb installed but i can only use 4.50gb. how do i make the rest usable?

    Sometimes the BIOS must be reset when additional memory is installed. I don't know if there is a BIOS (CMOS Memory) reset jumper on the motherboard. If not, power off the PC, then open the case and remove the CR2032 backup battery on the motherboard for at least 10 minutes. Reinstall the battery, observing battery polarity and then power on and check the BIOS to see if all the memory is detected. You may have to reset something in the BIOS if you have changed anything from the default. Then boot Windows and see what it reports.

    that did not work do u need the board info because its the stock board

    You might want to try updating your BIOS.

    tryed updateing BIOS and it did not work

    Type in msconfig in the 'Search programs and files' field, and hit enter. Go to the boot tab and go into Advanced Options. See if the max memory option is checked.
