Can an NVidia GTS250 be run with 3 monitors?

    G'day,

A friend of mine is inheriting my old NVidia GTS250, and he is also contemplating adding a 3rd monitor to his setup. The card has:

    1 x VGA output
    1 x HDMI output
    1 x DVI output

The question is : will this card output display to all 3 monitors?

    Regards,

No it can't. There aren't any Nvidia desktop cards at the moment that can do 3 monitors, 2 only.

Thanks Stormy. Does a second graphics card solve the issue? In other words, one card for 1 monitor, another card for the other two monitors?

    Yep.

What's your friend currently using? Onboard or another add-in card?

    Smarts,

I should clarify : He is currently using a laptop with an additional monitor, but would like to go to three monitors with the new build I am doing for him. Part of this build is the GTS250 I am giving to him.

The three monitors will not be used, for example, to play a game wherein everything is spanned across the 3 monitors. Primarily the usage is for a share trading platform wherein various program windows (e.g. ASX share prices, various stock prices, market indices etc. etc) can be undocked from the application and then positioned on any of the 3 monitors. In a nutshell, he is after more real-estate.

    Sorry for the delay mate.

If the new build is 1155 or the mobo has onboard, 1 monitor on the onboard/i-GPU and the other two on the 250.

    One card, 3 monitors :)

    Ahhh......mother board is a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-D3, LGA1155 Z68 Chipset. CPU is 1155 Intel i5-2500K with onboard graphics.

So it sounds like I will get away with a single card?

    Yep :)

Luckily it has: (not all z68 boards have a video output)

    Integrated Graphics Processor:
    1. 1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200
So you should be able to put one on the 2500k's HDMI IGPU and the other two on the Dedicated card.
