How do i upgrade the PSU on my low profile tower

Hi, does anyone one have any ideas on how to upgrade the psu on my acer aspire X3812. I want to upgrade the graphics card but it wont run on 220w. Does anyone know of a new pc case that maybe i can upgrade to or even a new psu unit that is 300w or above. I have looked at new cases but they need details of the board etc and i dont know it. I have little knowledge about this, only what i have been reading in forums etc so if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it. Thanks Kellie x

I searched a bit and think that Acer may be a "micro ATX" PC, but I am not positive. There are a few 300 plus watt micro ATX power supplies available at Newegg.com. Of those offered, the FSP brand would be my choice--they are about 60 dollars.

I'm reasonably sure that micro ATX motherboards will fit in any standard ATX case. If you had a standard ATX case you would not be limited to micro ATX power supplies.

With your existing case, you are likely limited to "low profile" graphics cards. An ATX case would remove that limitation.

I'd look at the documentation that came with the PC or do a Google search to try to confirm that the X3812 is in fact "micro ATX". If it is, then your choice is to decide whether to get a higher powered micro ATX power supply or to replace the case.

I'd also consider the costs of all that compared to a new PC that is ATX rather than micro ATX.

A program such as Speccy might reveal if you have a Micro ATX PC. Get Speccy here:
