    Unfortunately, time has nothing to do with it. And if the drive itself itself is faulty, it's going to freeze regardless.

    I've done a secure erase and re-installed Win 7, speeds back to normal, the restart script clocked the boot up at 45 seconds vs the 110 when the speed was slow.

    Made a system image after I got the activation and updates complete.

    Life is good again!
