Need help with building a new pc

Hi! My computer broke a couple of months ago and i think that there is no sense in repairing a 2 year old pc that, honestly, sucks. I am going to build a new system, so...

    Cpu : i don't know which one should i take, i3 2100 or athlon x3 460
    Gpu : i'll probably go with the nvidia gts 450 1gb gddr5
Hdd : at least 1 tb
    Ram : kingston 4gb ddr3
Psu : something good that will be able to power this system
Case : i have no idea, but it has to be cheap, because my budget isn't very big.
    Budget: 400-500 bucks

I need help with chosing a good psu, case and cpu for this system. Also if you think i should change some of the components i listed here, please say so. Thanks!

well firstly a 1tb hard drive will cost you over $100 at the moment, due to the flooding in Thailand.

Psu a 500w should be fine, but a 650w might offer a small amount of future proofing.

Do you have a link to the supplier from whom you will buy the parts? That would help. Otherwise, we don't know what brands you can buy.

    It says here:

Nvidia, Asus, Inno3D GTS 450 Review » Page 19 - Testing: Power Consumption - Overclockers Club

that this system, with your graphics card

    Processor: Intel Core I7 920 200x18 3.6Ghz
    Cooling: Noctua NH-U12P SE 1366
    Motherboard: MSI X58 Eclipse SLI
    Memory: Mushkin 996805 Redline PC312800 6-8-6-24 1600MHz
    Video Card(s): NVIDIA GTS 450, ASUS ENGTS450 TOP, Inno 3D GTS 450
Power Supply: Mushkin 1000 watt Joule Modular power supply
    Hard Drive: 1 x Seagate 1TB SATA
    Optical Drive: LG DVD-RW
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Case: Cooler Master Stacker 810

uses 190 watts at idle and 280 watts under load. An Intel i-3 processor would probably use a bit less than that. So a high quality 450 watt supply should be fine. Maybe a Seasonic, Antec, or Corsair.

Thank you. After a little research, i decided it's kinda stupid to try to fit in all these components under 500 dollars. So, i think that instead of these procesors i buy a amd athlon ii x2 250. Also, i'll go for a 500 gb hdd and upgrade if necesary.

You said you have an older computer that died. I don't know what happened to it, but I might suggest you using the working parts from that computer in your new one. You could use the old case, CD/DVD and maybe the hard drive until prices come down. This could save you some money so that you would have more money to put into the CPU, graphics card and PSU. I also would recommend you buying a Seasonic, Corsair or Antec PSU. If you do any gaming, I think you may be well served by getting a better CPU than the one you picked out.

Ok. The dvd reader is pretty good, but the hdd is only 160gb. Ofc i could use it until the prices come down. So, if the ii x2 won't be good enough for gaming, which one would you recomend?

What do you think about this:
    Cpu: i3 2100 3,1GHz
    Mb: MSI H61-p21
    Hdd: 1TB
    Ram: 4gb 1333MHz Kingston
    Gpu: GeForce GT440 1GB DDR3
    Dvd: Dvd rw dual layer
    Case/PSU: Midi ATX 520W Blueberry

I can get this system for only 320 euros and it seems pretty nice, except maybe the gpu. But it should be enough for skyrim and bf3 on medium/low on 1680x1050 with about 30 fps.

    Edit:

This one also seems nice, for roughly the same price:

    Cpu: intel g840 2.8GHz
    Mb: MSI H61-p21
    Gpu: MSI HD6670 1GB DDR5
    Ram: 4GB 1333MHz Kingston
    HDD: 750GB Sata 2

    Another edit:

Could i fit in a phenom ii x4 840 in that first system? It seems better than the i3.

    Look up those processors here:

PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts

I think the 2100 scores higher than the other 2. And I think the AMD scores lowest of the 3.

Look up the video cards here:

    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

You can't install the AMD processor on that motherboard.

Thanks. I will probably go with the second pc. It's not a great pc, but it will be able to play new games at medium/low.

    The second one?

The graphics card on the first one scores better on those benchmarks than the second one.

And the 2100 CPU has higher benchmark scores than the Intel G840.

And the first one has a larger hard drive.
