Windows 7: Windows 7 second hardrive not recognized

Windows 7 RC and Windows XP

I turned on Hard drive pre-delay but it didn't help. It wouldn't explain why XP is finding the drive anyway. It is weird that it doesn't show up on boot but when waking from sleep mode it finds the drive.

Windows 7

Had the same problem in an earlier version of Win 7 beta. Found this at some forum and it worked.

To slove the problem open the control panel and click on the Administrative Tools icon after that close the control panel window. In that administrative tools click on computer management, click on yes if it is prompted by UAC,click on disk management in the left panel under Storage. In the right panel, right click on the Vista hard disk partition that is missing it's drive letter, then click on Change Drive Letter and Paths.Click on the Add button.7. Select (dot) Assign the following drive letter, then select a drive letter you want to have assigned to the Vista disk partition and click on OK.8. The Vista Hard Disk Partition will now show up in Windows 7.

Windows 7 RC and Windows XP

I'm a confused. After "change drive letter and paths" I hit add... and it says "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder:" Do I pick it's own letter or the another hard drives letter?

This sounds Hitachi Deskstar 160 GB puts my Win7 machine in a no boot loop, yet works fine on XP. I started a thread, no solutions yet
