    Can you blank the screen using a different method? If yes, it may be best to leave the "problem" alone until you update your version of 7. Even later pre-RTM versions may correct it. There are numerous candidate causes for this issue.

This is related to another thread of mine, but the situatioin has changed so radically that a new thread made sense. With the help of MS Tech Support on the phone he explained how to get rid of all my annoying partitiions. So, both drives were wiped out and made into single primary partitions....
