USB SATA Eclosure with SSD installed drive not recognised fully.

Probably not, unless you have some kind of need for constantly transferring (copying/moving) huge amounts of data. That's where raw speed would shine.
But for most general usage, I doubt you'll see a great difference since the true strength of any SSD lies in its access time being fractions of a millisecond - a world of difference to what HDs can manage to this day.

I only have a small Samsung 470 Series 64 gig as boot drive for O.S and music program's, but oh boy is it worth it.

I went for Samsung as it was quality rather than raw speed I was after.

I have read many, many articles on SSD. Words cannot justify how good they are.

I will be keeping my eye on the SSD section from the experts comments on SevenForums so I can keep it in good shape.

I have been using computers for music since the days of Atari ST .. my little Asus is like so fast now its kinda unreal... everything is just so quick.

I found the thread and tried to reply to it but it's too old. I am dealing with an old issue apparently.

I bought SamSung 128GB SSD and installed it successfuly on my computer. I ran out of space real quick so I upgraded to something larger. I need to have the data removed from the 128SSD and format and return to Amazon.

I placed the 128 SSD in an external case and it is not recognized in windows nor in Computer Mangement->DIsk Management.

The thread talks about initializing the external drive but I don't see that option.

I tried different cables, different computers. My usb recognizes other external drives and usb thumbdrives - everything but the 128SSD in the external hard case. I tried another hard drive in the external case and that works. I isolated to 128SSD not being recognized.

Help?

It was working well and it does recognize when mounted on the laptop. I was hoping to avoid that but I will try that solution. I was hoping that you would reply.

Here I am on the 129SSD back on my laptop. I tried to secure erase but it will not let me because it is OS disk - it has my windows 7 on it. While I am here, I will delete via windows explorer what I can of my personal data and perhaps contemplate returning it. I thought about keeping it for a back up storage but it's just too small.

I am not able to get it recognized as an external drive. That has been my issue.
