Can't make Elan touchpad scroll on Samsung clean install

I have installed the Elan touchpad driver I can't get it to scroll correctly.

In addition an Elan touchpad .exe run box comes up at every boot which does nothing when Run. I finally browsed to it in the Programs folder and deleted that .exe file so it wouldn't pop up at every start.

It shows installed in the Device Manager, however doesn't have the functions I had in the Samsung factory install. This and the sound driver don't seem to work right when installed, as though there is more software needed that isn't on the Downloads page at Support for NP-RF511.

    Your other thread:
    New laptop, changing partition disks?

IMO, I personally would return the Notebook back to out of box state.

Update: It is enabled in the msconfig startup and also in the startup folder, however the Elan touchpad .exe run box still comes up at every boot. When I hit run it makes the scrolling work, but I still can't figure out how to stop the run box from appearing on boot but have the scroll working. I read that it could possibly be a problem with the admin rights?

In that case at next reboot instead go to the file location given on the front of the run box (e.g. Program Files/Elan/xxxx.exe) rightclick on it to Run as Admin.

Tried that, also gave the said files admin rights on the compatibility tab which has made the run box stop appearing on boot but I'm still having to go into the control panel > mouse then into the ELAN settings just to get it working. I'm still yet to find a solution.

Did you find out what the retailers return policy is? Most retailers here allow return for full refund or replacement within 30 days. Time is slipping by so I'd see if I can return it and get another.

Or ask Samsung to replace it under warranty. Then you can start over with clean reinstall and not wipe the Recovery Partition.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them, I'm in a ticket queue apparently.

Take a look in Samsung Support Centre, for any options.

have you found a solution yet?

i'm using a samsung n145 plus and it used to work perfectly. my laptop crashed like 3 months back and I lost all my data. reinstalled it and have been facing the same problem since. i need to go to the Elan properties and enable it each time from there. I think this happened after a windows update of some sort.

    any suggestions?

Unfortunately I didn't find a solution for this, I had to get a replacement laptop which had everything back in it's original state. Have you tried making sure it's in your startup?
