    Western Digital (Discontinue)

Why did WD discontinue the WD3200BJKT?
Whats the difference between all these other wd3200's? that are scorpio blacks. Like the EKP and the PKT and WDBABD3200ANC-NRSN... Why can't they just have 1 model... Im trying to find a replacement one.

The model you require may have been washed away by the recent flooding in Thailand?

    OHH.

This is a little bit off topic, but not worth opening a new thread over.
Will a hard drive still work if its in the original sealed packaging and sitting on the shelf? Or will it go dead even if its brand new?

    What?

It could be defective the instant it is manufactured.

Yes i know this, I was wondering if they could go dead over time though just from sitting unused. Like a battery would on a shelf.

I've read reports of people finding 20+ year old unused HDDs and plugging them into an old system and them working fine. I would not expect a HDD to go bad just sitting on the shelf.
