What's the power and bandwith usage of your USB hubs? Post a snip of each. In Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers, Right click the hub, select Properties then open the Power/Advanced tab. Do this for each of the Generic Hubs. While you're there, select the Power Management tab and make sure that power saver is not checked.

@ Pete7 - The size of the PS has no bearing on the power supplied to the USB ports. Each port is allowed 500ma. The port will shutdown if this is exceeded for any length of time.

I was wondering more about the computer being underpowered, although thinking about it, the USB ports being the only thing to be messed up by it doesn't make much sense.

Assuming the two gamepads are good (they work on the XP computer) and assuming the OP has checked and set all the settings mentioned previously it is looking more and more like a defective motherboard.

Unless anyone knows of a Windows setting we've missed. I did not want to make that call without seeing what you guys thought.

This is the only other setting I can think of. It's not part of Selective Suspend.

I would still be interested in the controller loading though. I'm also curious of the extra four ports. Is this an external hub added?

In post number 5 he confirmed that he had already made sure that power saver was not checked. Controller loading and the four extra ports seem to be the only things left to know about before it should be assumed to be faulty in my opinion.

I now see that I did over look where it listed the front ports before. Would you mind answering my other questions from before?

I'm assuming you built the computer yourself? How long ago? Have you had any other problems with the computer at all?

    These questions?

Yes I built it myself back in 2009.
The only other problem I've had (which happens once in a blue moon) was sometimes my computer wouldn't boot up into windows. But a simple press of the restart button would fix it (but it would bring me into the menu where I could choose last known good config)

I also have to use certain slots on my motherboard for the RAM or my computer won't detect it. I didnt' think it to be a motherboard issue because I looked on google for the same issue and MANY people complained that windows wouldn't detect new RAM.

Other than those issues my computer is an awesome machine.
