the 2500k and 2600k. ivy would be out of the option since I think I can't afford it when it is released. lol
I'd expect the heat to be very close to each other. Too close to worry about. The 2500k is a great overclocker and a favorite choice for gaming. Your best move is to buy the 2500k and use the saved money for some other purpose----SSD, better monitor, new case, whatever.
The 2600k might be a better choice if you don't care about the price difference, need hyperthreading, or live and die by benchmarks.
If you aren't going to overclock, you can do without a K model.
just wanna be sure to pick the right move. since my money is not that abundant. haha. Does HT pose noticeable diference? if not. I'm really going to buy the 2500k. which board is better overclocker? p67 or other chipset for 1155?
or. is that board on first post be a good overclocker?
I linked to your board in the 2nd post of this thread. Read the reviews. The Z68has some advantages over the P67, but only a few. It has SSD assist for hard drives, which I don't need and won't use. Personally, I would rather have a gen. 3 P67 board. The gen 3 boards have pcie 3.0 which doubles the bandwidth for capable GPU cards. Both AMD and Nvidia are supposed to be coming out with a new line of cards in the next few months. Rumor has it that they will be pcie 3 cards.
was there gen 3 the same as b3? can't see a gen3 p67 board on asus(brand of choice). i can only see a z68 gen3. if the only advantage of p67 gen3 is pcie3, i don't think evga gtx570 sc(my vga card choice) is pcie3.
It isn't. But, the new cards supposedly will be released in a few months, and according to rumors, are going to be pcie 3. Just a little future proofing, that's all.
As fate would have it, I've been looking into Intel for a few days. I've come to the conclusion if I could, I'd go with an i5 2xxxK and the P67 chipset. My reasoning is it ain't that much different than the high dollar i7's and has very good overclocking capabilities. I'd do it with the socket 1155 too since it supports the new 2nd gen Core series and will likely be around longer than the 1156 and 1366.
As to RAM, as was said you'll see little difference between 1366 and 2100 except maybe in Photoshop. But if it is installed on a SSD bought with money saved on high-dollar RAM and a CPU, you'll get a much bigger bang.
