    keyboard and mouse problems

long story short, l have two issues.. l have two pieces of MS hardware that are under 4 months old.

my keyboard has an intermittent issue which after a recent system rebuild (new motherboard etc) still seems to have an issue. basically there is an intermittent issue with a certain set of keys.. namely the following letters and keys: B, N, M and the arrow keys which stop working at random intervals.. and its getting annoying sometimes.

furthermore l purchased a Sidewinder x8 mouse which is also a MS product which lve had for a month or two less which has developed an issue in the scroller.. basically it occasionally jumps a line or two when using it to open a new tab and occasionally ghost scrolls and jumps when lm not touching it.

now l am planning on RMA'ing both but l cannot find anywhere apart from a 5pence a min number to call and l havent exactly got the cash to call the number as lm on a tight budget at the moment. so is there any 0800 toll free numbers for the UK or any way l can do an RMA online? (tho preferably ld like a toll free number as its easier to talk than type these days and much quicker)

the only page l found relating to support numbers: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...ort/contact-us

First things first...make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware for both. Then if that checks out, then check if the keys themselves are sticking in some sort of way, that being when the key is depressed and the mechanism underneath is sticking. From personal experiences, I had a Razer keyboard that had a few keys sticking and switched out to a Logitech G510 and the ESC key sticks, popped off key trimmed the edges with pocket knife and alls good.

keys arent sticking, and outside of the times when the problem occurs on the keyboard everything works fine like it should which is why its so infuriating.

I've done this twice on 2 Netbook keyboards

Because I spilled a liquid (water) on it, is that what you may have done?

havent had any spills. lve RMA's the mouse now l found a way to do it online for free, lm sending the keyboard back to ebuyer for a refund as lve managed to find some spare cash to replace the keyboard.

had to crack out the worst keyboard ever because my problems extended to most of the number keys and to more letters today, so should be getting the new one tomorrow.. but lve no recollection of dropping anything in or on the keyboard.

It could be that there is some debris lodged in there, down under the keys...or the keyboard itself is just plain defective.
Hopefully with the new one you get you wont have the problem.

indeed, the fact that the problem was intermittent just makes me think it was faulty especially since it only affected the bottom row of keys.. the only issue was the fact that today it covered more than just b, n, m and the arrow keys.. it spread to the 0 del and enter on the num pad.

thank god l only have to put up with my spare keyboard until tomorrow as l keep turning caps lock on due to how bunched up this keyboard is.
