USB 2.0 Transfer Rate Exceptionally Slow with WD Elemends SE Portable

    Hi All,

As of recently (for the last couple of weeks) I noticed that the transfer rate to my external WD Elements SE 1TB drive is very very slow (~2MB/sec). This wasn't always the case, and the drive was much more responsive than that.

I searched about this topic extensively and the only thing I found was an issue with installing Windows 7 SP1 that in some cases screwed up the USB2 drivers. This was supposedly addressed by KB2529073 which is installed on my system. However, I'm still experiencing this ulta slow transfer rate.

Any ideas how can I resolve this?

    Thank you and happy holidays!

    Some more information:
    1. This behavior happens on all the USB ports of my computer
    2. This behavior happens with other USB2 devices I tried such as 3 different Sandisk USB2 sticks
    3. Sometimes copying large (~3GB) data to the drive eventually finishes up successfully and sometimes the file transfer just remains stuck. This may have to do with the usb port I used, but I'm not sure.
    4. Looking at the event viewer, I found several events with Event ID 11 and the description: "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR9" and "Harddisk2\DR8.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
