Good to know that checkdisk fixed it for you.

While I do not want to create a scare, a CRC error in a hard disk is not a good sign. The hard disk may be degenerating creating bad sectors which in turn may make it RAW. Whether more and more bad sectors will be created or it is just a one-time aberration is very hard to predict.

Keep checking the hard drive periodically with the manufacturer's diagnostic utility.

As a matter of abundant caution, you may consider moving all critical data to another new external hard drive and use this drive only for non-critical data.
