    I didn't get offended at all. :)

I was looking through the Passmark ratings and saw where they claimed to have tested over 1,200 CPUs and got the idea of finding out who is running what. I knew there was no real way to weight a ten-choice poll properly, but gave it a shot anyway. I'd bet that for most of us, if our CPU got swapped out for something a grade higher or a grade lower it would not be immediately obvious to us during our normal daily computer use. Makes you wonder about the folks who coughed up $1,000 bucks for a 990X.

Quite true. I wasn't and am not going to be one of those. But, it does seem that there is one here that did.

The vast majority of them paid for the 990X for the same reason many buy Windows Ultimate. There's a term for it, but I'd blush or get banned if I typed it out.

My new rig has a FX 4100 OC @ 4.3
My "play" rig has a AMD Phenom II X4 965 OC to 4.1
My wifes and both of my boys have an AMD Athlon II X3 435 with the 4th core unlocked
And my 5 year old has a AMD Phenom II Black Edition X2 555
And my guest pc has a Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4600+ OC to 3.0GHz in it and still runs like a charm.

Thats 7 AMD based rigs in my house, I guess one could say I like AMD

I just upgraded from an AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz to a AMD Phenom II X4 980 3.7GHz. The Athlon II will go in my backup rig. I've slowly upgraded this PC peace by peace, so now I have enough parts to rebuild the original I started with as a spare.
