read error: data error (cyclical redundancy check)

i have been using tc for a while but never seen these errors

i am trying to copy large amount of files and i periodically get

read error: data error (cyclical redundancy check)

on a random file, then the program sort of hangs, pressing skip does nothing, only solution is to cancel.

also, is read error: data error (cyclical redundancy check) meaning the source or destination?? you see it throws error on the same 3 files and then freezes on the last file in view in the image

i cant open the folder and don't know if/how i could bypass the bad files and copy the rest of the folder

This simply means there is a bad sector in your hard drive. Although this article is old, it would really help you to fix the problem: How do I fix a cyclic redundancy check error when I try to copy a file?
