home premium sees only one cpu on dual cpu installed

I did a search for this problem and I only find from 2009 some answers. Only no one gives a solution to this problem. Someone posted a comparison chart for all the windows 7 flavors and it shows that home-premium can see 2 cpu's. Only mine does not. All other progs have seen the cpu's. I had to reinstall so I installed the home/premium. Is there anyplace to get some info on this please..

Many kajillion thanks. If someone can really help, I will send a T-Shirt from our

Windows 7 Home Premium only supports one socket and won't support multiple processors.

Home Premium will support multiple cores on one CPU, but not multiple CPU's in more than one socket.

    Profession and Ultimate,

    Compare Windows 7 Editions

There is a typo for Home Premium.

If your Home Premium is a retail version you can (transfer it) use it on another PC. OEM versions are tied to the first motherboard they are activated on. I have heard reports that people have manged to transfer an OEM version to another PC. I guess it all depends on what you say to the Microsoft representative when you do the phone activation.

Does anyone recommend Windows Anytime Upgrade?
    (From the START menu)

I have never used it, but it seems it might make reinstalling everything unnecessary.

That's why it is important to do your research before making a purchase. No version of Windows Home/Home Premium supported multiple processors before.

I know people get confused, but they usually over-complicate the issue. Cores don't count as processors. A single core processor and a quad core processor are both one processor. When you look into OS support, you look into the number of CPU's your motherboard has, aka how many sockets.
