Lexmark x74-75 printer - Help with Install?

Lexmark x74-75 printer, on my rig, specs in the drop down.

The setup program from the cd opens, I click "Install," select English, and then,
    nothing... . . .

I've heard of people getting this to work with Win7 before. How on earth did you get it to work?

    Hi Miranova!

Yep, searched for Windows 7 Compatibility Center; Lexmark X75 All-in-One Printer - 64-bit, then clicked on the See what the community is saying link, and found this How to make Lexmark X75 All-in-One Printer work with Windows 7 - Microsoft Answers

Hopefully it will work with your hybrid.

Hi my friend...If you want to install the drivers for your "Lexmark X74" on Windows 7 you wont be able to do this cause -> http://support.lexmark.com/index?pag...erlocale=EN_UK look at the compatible OS for it.. And "Lexmark X75" has latest drivers install only for Windows XP 32bit, so I believe you need to change your printer for newer one which is compatible with newer OS systems.
    Hope I helped you a bit :)

Followed that, mostly-- I have the CD, couldn't find the drivers for download. But I did the compatibility checkbox & run as administrator checkbox. Same result as before.

Looking more closely, I've noticed that it doesn't really ask for a language, but it says "The software that you have selected is not available in English. Please select from the list below." And only English is listed. I select & click ok, then the process keeps running for a bit, then just stops without anything else happening. Confusing...

Would there be a shot if I tried safe mode?

Sure I would try Safe mode, if that still doesn't work have a look here:
    Compatibility Mode

Go over the procedures in Option One, and if that seems "mostly" okay,
Try running the troubleshooter in Option Two,
You may even feel adventurous, and check into the registry settings in Option Three. :)

If all that fails then take note of the
       Note
    Blue note
at the begging of the tutorial, you may have to use an emulator.

I went ahead with the XP Mode, and turns out that this virtual environment can't see that there's a printer usb plugged in...

I'm going to try Safe Mode-- kept forgetting whenever I'd start up so, lol. I'll try that, too, and post back for how it went.

@epportal3, I know it is listed as not compatible, but I've seen users here saying that they have the same exact one I do, working on 64-bit 7. So tis possible.

Somehow I only caught it in safe mode: one of the .exe's has "16" on the end. It must be that it's a 16 bit program overall. The Install button wasn't even on the like splash screen where it belongs. =(

Oh well, guess I'm stuck with only printing off my laptop. =/

When you installed XPmode did you also install the Integration Features Pack?
