No reports 12 gig is there it reads everything as found but just says only 8 is usable so not sure whats going on. Ive also updated to BIOS to F8 but it failed to fix the problem. also panicked after i did it cause it didnt set to RAID so i performed one of the NOOOOOOO things because it failed to find an operating system fixed it though.

Bad chip? Sorry if it's been suggested.

Once you've ensure your BIOS is capable, etc., swap chips around using different slots.

Maybe it's the Windows developers analyzing your system usage and determining that 12GB of RAM isn't needed? JK.

Can you be specific? I'm having trouble understanding where you are seeing what .

    1. The BIOS reports 12GB: Y/N
If no, what does it show?

    2. The Windows System Properties (right-click Computer/Properties) shows 12GB installed, 8GB usable: Y/N.
If no, what does it show?

    3. Did you check MSCONFIG as I mentioned? What did you find there?

In MSConfig, under the Boot tab, if you click "Advanced options", "Maximum memory" should be unchecked - is that the case?

I don't think it's a hardware problem as such if Windows can see there's 12GB, which apparently it does, but elects to use only 8GB.

Edit: I am assuming that's the message in the System window and that the BIOS reports 12GB, or did the BIOS only report 8GB, in which case it is a hardware configuration problem?
    and yes it is unchecked

hey Guys this isnt the OS's fault, it is the EX58 and corsair, i had the same problem, could actually only run 6gb ram properly in tripple channel, i hope in the coming weeks/months they will sort out bios updates to fix this. at the moment only certrain brands will work with 6x2gb.

Bcoz the board is only a year old they probably havent got it completely sorted.

Thanks - one last clarification I should have made in MSConfig, under the Boot tab, if you click "Advanced options", "Maximum memory" should be unchecked.

If you have more than one OS entry in the Boot tab, which I think you might, make sure you have selected the Win 7 boot entry before clicking "Advanced options" and determining the "Maximum memory" status which should be unchecked.
