    Welcome to the fast side

    A Guy

Well thank you very much, A Guy, I'm glad to be here.

While it's not Windows 7 related, it is SSD related, so here goes.

At the same time that I got the SSD for my Windows 7 machine, I also bought a Samsung 830 (256 GB) for my MacBook Pro.

Here's the comparison between the original 5400rpm HDD and the new SSD:

RAID 0 Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB - this time Cache Enabled.

I have the impression that the tool measures the time to cache and not the time to disk

It is always good to move to a SSD if you are looking for performance. It will be easier and cheaper with a desktop than with a laptop. What do you have?

    Hi there,
I have Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 32MB cache, but it's too much noise with a external cooler.

Welcome to Seven Forums RedwinD. A SSD is the best performance upgrade currently (assuming you don't have a terribly old outdated system to start with )

    Samsung 830 128GB.

Marvell moboard controller with Marvell driver.
Newest I could find. Which isn't saying much.
Not sure if msachi or Intel would work better.

WEI disk went from 7.6 to 7.9.

Intel controllers usually get better scores than Marvell does.
