Hi Drew, Any special reason you need such a big drive. For a normal OS installation, 60GB would suffice - unless you have big games.

Well if you remember my philosophy, my bare minimum was 120Gig, which I got. Remember I got a Vertex 2 I20gig.
Anyway I'm getting back into my photography and will be getting a Nikon D800 which is a 32 megapixel DSLR. Point here is I will be working with large files and want a drive with the speed to work with and handle those files. That's where the 256gig comes in.
And before you ask, no, I won't be storing all those files on the drive, it'll just be a working drive.
Thanks.
I own 3 Vertex (but no Vertex4). They all work well. The reviews at Newegg are mostly very positive. The acid test will be the performance at the 4K level because this is what determines your operational speed. The sky high nums for large blocks are for bragging only. But unfortunately they never specify the 4K nums. But I am sure it is going to be a fine disk - as to these Anantech nums it looks very good: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5719/ocz-vertex-4-review-256gb-512gb
I tend to take the reviews at both newegg and amazon with a grain of salt. What I was looking for here are actual users, but... Anway I'll do some further research and go from there.
Thanks.
OCZ is claiming it is faster them Crucial M4 and Samsung 830 so I suspect it will be, otherwise they would have a big user backlash. From the user benchmark pics on Amazon, the Vertex 4 leaves the afore mentioned drives choking in its dust.
Here's my M4 scores. Looks like leaving it at logon has not been a big help. I'll do another one leaving it on the desktop idling several hours.

Since I have the Thermaltake Level 10 GT case, I bought 4 more HD trays just so I could swap out disks quickly.
I have a single Vertex 3 240G that I am running off of now. I also have 2 more Vertex 3 240G in Raid0 mounted on trays but removed at the present.
I also have 2 Vertex 4 256G in Raid0 that is also on trays. Both my Raid arrays are removed at the moment.
(I am working with a 3TB drive now and getting a second one to transfer all of my 1TB drives data to the two.)
It has been a couple of weeks since I had the raid arrays installed but if I remember correctly, I was not as happy with the performance of the Vertex 4's performance compared to the Vertex 3's.
I may be doing things all wrong but it seemed to me that my Vertex 3's were a little quicker in actual use. Really doesn't make any sense since the numbers were higher with Vertex 4's.
I have updated the firmware on both the Vertex 4's (1.4), and really didn't notice much of a change from the 1.4R > 1.4.
I will get back to the Raid arrays after I get my data drives setup.
