    You don't have to, but a secure erase will return performance, depending on the number of writes it has accumulated, it will start to have a diminishing affect as the SSD gets higher number of writes.
    If it's still performing well for you, then don't worry about any benchmarks or the WEI score, leave it as it is.

    Yes but not because of the SSD.
    My Samsung 830 in my desktop is on a Marvell 6.0Gbs controller chipset. So it never reaches its full potential.

    The 840 is using the Intel 6.0Gbs chipset in the laptop.
    A big difference in the Marvell and Intel controller chipsets.

    Just for fun, this is my new Mushkin 64GB USB3 score! This is the first USB flash drive I ever owned that can slap a traditional hard drive badly! This thing is amazingly fast! It came with FAT 32. Quickly formated to ExFAT and this is the result:
