Thats good to know as I am not really that aware of what the figures mean even though I have been told countless times. The odd thing was the difference in the readouts?

They are real close John. Click the 3rd thing to from the left in the AsSSD and it will show the IOPS, Input output operations per second. Nice drive.

Thanks Gary thing is even though I really am not aware of what is what the drive is quick in any case. But must have a look see how much those EVO's are out here

Hmm only $25 more than the 840? and the Pro is way more expensive than the bog standard Pro??

There is no standard pro, there is 840, 840 Pro, and now the 840 EVO. The 840 Pro is an entirely different animal than the EVO. The Pro is the highest performance followed by the EVO and the standard 840 then the 830's.

Thanks Bill for the link, I could only find the German version at first.

You guys make me want to pick up another EVO already. I wonder what RAID scores would look like; too bad RAPID is limited to one drive.

And as Gary pointed out, the Pro is definitely top of the 840 food chain but you can get really comparable performance with the EVO.

Revised scores after the big drive swap of a few weeks ago.

I agree with Britton30. It's not common to find SSDs in SATA 2 mode that can do 70MB/s 4K QD=1 writes :)
