Yep I know mate but mine do get warm in a laptop because of the nature of the beast (laptop) :)

They shouldn't. How much heat can 2 Watts produce. Are you sure it is the SSD. And anyhow, they all can stand up to 70C - and that is pretty hot.

No mate I meant the machine in general CPU, GPU mobo etc - well mine do get warm and hence the rive by heat conduction / radiation (infrared) but I can't speak for others :)

Ya the laptop heats up so so does everything else. In a desktop the ssd should stay room temp, unless you are pushing it hard, remember memory gets hot too, and that`s what an ssd actually is.

In my Gateway box the ssd and the hard drive are both screwed into the removable hard drive cage, so as the metal gets hot from the hard drive running that heat goes right over to the ssd and warms it up.

And there`s absolutely no where to mount a front fan in that thing.

In my desktops I mounted the SSDs with Velco dots. That gives them a certain insulation from the metal. One is actually dangling in the air just held by the cables - it is one of those light weight 7mm models. That one has 360 degree ventilation, LOL.

Top idea Wolfgang as I have my desktop ones fitted to mounting "trays" but annoyingly they can only be fixed by the first two screws which means the non SATA connection end flaps in the breeze - not that I move the desktop around a great deal but I do like to be precise with fittings. At the moment that end is held down with that cloth duct tape but it looks messy and makes a mess when it is removed for any reason.

I have some of that stick on Velcro (both parts) strip/s at home so I shall try that way of fixing them - actually I seem to remember you can buy those dots in town too

If one has to worry about SSD temps you don't have a SSD problem you have a computer cooling problem. It's hard for me even to think how hot a laptop or desktop would have to get to show 70C on a SSD.

Your computer is going to cook it's self to death before you ever see those 70C temps on a SSD.

When I do backup to a SSD external in a enclosure I can fell warmth. That it.

70C/158F is not warmth, it's hot.

But I don't even like warmth so I put my SSD that is in a enclosure on top of my computer tower and let the 6 exhaust blow on it while I do my backup. Nice and cool just the way I like it.
