Show us your SSD performance 2

Just got a nice surprise after managing to get the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB for a special price - cloned the 840 EVO 250GB to it set the partitions up and it is in my opinion cutting boot time and getting sites up in half the time of the old drive.
I am so impressed with the speed at least and it seems my posting problem has gone with the old drive, and there doesn't seem to be much in the "bottom" line result form the 840 to the 850. Having said that I don't really know the meaning behind the figures except WHS telling us that it is the 4K and 4K - 64 THDR that are the important bits - perhaps someone can tell me if this is good.

My WEI is still at 7.7 though because of the CPU even though I have it OC's a bit everything else is marked 7.9. But overall I must get another for my best laptop as soon as.

70C/158F is not warmth, it's hot.

But I don't even like warmth so I put my SSD that is in a enclosure on top of my computer tower and let the 6 exhaust blow on it while I do my backup. Nice and cool just the way I like it.

Thats the way Bear , your flexing your "know how" for all to see and i must say i am actually intimidated a little and i feel quite nervous now .

Very scary and impressive at the same time. I have an Asus laptop and it always runs very cool , can't even remember when it got mildly warm .

Thats a good thing because as we all know "heat" is the # 1 enemy of electronic components and is responsible for more premature deaths than any other source , the obituary columns bare this out.

Well I would not worry too much jonny mate all working electronics get hot simply via the laws of energy conservation or they would not be working and yes some make their way to the cemetery because the stupid owners don't keep them clean and rest laptops on their laptops and anything soft they happen to be sitting or lying on.
A case in point was awhile ago when nit wit said their laptop got very hot after (not mentioning gender nod nod) had been resting the thing on a pillow on the owners lap. Now I ask you is that simply a no-brainer or have I got it terribly wrong being a (not going to mention gender again)

I should of stated excessively hot for prolonged periods , thats what i really meant lol, not just getting hot during labor intensive applications.

I'm with you 100% on the "resting the lappy on a blanket or pillow " though , i could be wrong but my guess is the prettier looking gender is more apt to be guilty of this offense .

It's possible that the "big fat ego" gender ala "more power" gender or aka " i'm not asking for no stinkin directions " gender could be guilty of this as well but i think it's much more of a rarity .

Yep I knew what you meant jonny and I also meant to add those who keep working the machines when they do get hot instead of seeking help or look for a reason like new compound on the CPU clogged fans etc even the labour intensive stuff and wringing the very last drop of OCing out of the machine will overheat in those situations. Myself I only ever OC this Ivy Bridge and keep it to a reasonable level.

What kind of equipment are you running the 850/840 tests on, ICIT2LOL?
I have an 850, and I'm getting an overall rating of 1100 or so, to your 1500.
I have an Lenovo W530, 3820QM, 32Gb PC3-14900 (XMP), and a 512Gb 850 Pro system drive.

Well I used the AS SSD as in the pic Alex Intelligent Software - Downloads I know it is in German but it doesn't make any difference to the figures. Now maybe and I stand to be corrected my figures were on my Ivy Bridge i5 3750K and 8GB 2400MHz RAM desktop - both OC'd .

But I am no expert with these things and don't know if that would make any difference say if you were using a slower CPU etc Personally I cannot think of any reason but someone with more knowledge than me will let you know in dur course.

PS I meant to say try yor WEI as mine is 7.7 and it will show what is holding up the top score on your system - mine is the CPU which is hard to reason

I'm using the AS SSD package, too (there's a "Language" option on mine: German or English, aber veileich Sie sint ein Deutscher*?). My WEI is 6.8, but both disk access and memory are the max: 7.9. Calcs per second is 7.8, but both graphics measures are at the 6.8 level.

I think it's the OC. My heavens, what is your clock speed? Your benchmark is 45% better than mine, and I have an i7 chip (albeit not overclocked). Wow.

Thanks for the info. I have some testing to do with the portable (non-opencandy) version of Crystal Disk Maker, and I'm going to compare results with the AS SSD test. Will post when this happens.
