Well that test wa down with the CPU at 4.2MHz and the RAM ay 2400MHz though I found the OC even when I reset it to 4.0Mhz didn't make any difference. I think it is purely down to the CPU as this is my Asus ROG running an i7 @ 2.4MHz no OC and RAM at 1600MHz. The CPU is the thing that holds up my Ivy Bridge desktop
PS my WEI for the same machine is lower and the graphics are the let down even with a GTX 860M on board
So this is weird. I have a W530, with a QM77 chipset, and 32Gb of PC-3 14900 memory, running at 1866 2/3 (nominal, actual is about 1864) MHz. I looked up the specs for the ASUS ROG. Assuming a i7 4860HQ CPU (which is about 10% higher in Passmark score than my 3820QM) and an HM87 chipset (which has the same 6Gb/s ports, as my QM77), you're showing nearly fifteen times the performance. And you're stating that the FSB frequency is only 1600, and I'm running 1866 MHz.
Some of those numbers seem to violate the physical limits of SATA3. I did notice the overall write score on you screen grab was nearly the same as the 4K-64Thrd. Normally the score seems closer to the average of that and the seq. read score. And then I noticed that that number was not aligned properly, as if someone had pasted in an abnormally high value...
So, we have
1) Computers in Oz run faster than anywhere else, or
2) You've really souped up and tuned your system in ways I have no clue about or have not enabled (e.g RAPID mode). In which case, please give me some hints on improving my computer's benchmarks..., or
3) Your pulling the old kangaroo's leg, and your computer is big-noting it's speed. If so, good on ya mate, you had me for a bit.
If there's a "RAPID- OZ Mode" option in the Australian version of Disk Magician, would you mind sending me a copy of that executable?
Well Wizard I really take exception to implying I "fixed" the results because a) I don't know how to photoshop stuff and b) I think I am a little more principled than that, and there will be plenty of members who will let you know that I am no expert for one and for another have always and will continue to be up front and honest in anything I do or say.
I mean what the heck have I got to gain apart from bragging rights and I am not into that I can assure you.
Furthermore I have no idea on how to overclock this machine and don't intend doing so I wanted it mainly because of the HD graphics the speed is just a an added plus in my mind. Also there is no special OZ methods of using the Magician (if there is then you know better than me!!) which I have hardly had to touch on this machine I just set my machines up (5) using Brinks Optimise tutorial and leave it at that.

This leaves me in quandary, though. How can two machines, otherwise similar, give such dramatically different benchmarks? I mean, we're both using the same model disks, for criminy. I've seen results in Atto Benchmark where enabling RAPID had a remarkable effect on the numbers. Do you think that this is it?

Thanks for mentioning the Brink Tutorial on Optimizing Windows. I think I've done most of the stuff, but there are a few added wrinkles in there that I've not seen that seem useful.

rapid mode will give you remarkably significant gains in Benchmarks. From my experience, that does not translate to actual usage. I have not seen any difference.

I was going to send you a PM to make a more clear apology, but found that you don't accept PMs (wise, given the 14,500 or so posts you've made: you probably don't need additional PMs). Let me be clear, I thought I saw something that hinted at your pulling my leg, and was hinting at being in on the joke. No insult or ill will intended at all.
In my defense, I'm an engineer, and I've observed that I notice even slight differences in fonts, alignments, etc. My friend Bob has put his finger on it: he counsels other engineers to avoid changing fonts in Powerpoint slides (even from 22 to 24 point, and back again). If you change fonts, engineers notice and focus on the font size change rather than the point of the slide.
A. Guy is right: I'm envious of how you got such fast numbers. I'll look through the Brink material. Do you have RAPID enabled on your SSD?
