    Bluetooth 3.0

I am looking for a Bluetooth 3.0 adapter because I am tired of the bad range of 2.0. The problem I am seeing is that I can only find receivers that are up to 3Mbps. I heard that it goes up 24Mbps since it is based on 2.4GHz. Is this not true? I can't imagine it can only go 3Mbps over 2.4GHz.

Bluetooth 3.0 supports "theoretical" speeds of 24Mbps, I know i hate when they use that word :P A bluetooth 3.0 device with the +HS on the box means it creates its own 802.11 connection with 2.4GHz.

This means both devices sender and receiver must have this +HS (generally displayed on the box) for the highest data transfers.

So, basically it is capable, but won't because of the it's 802.11 connection? That sucks, I hope that revisions will come out and change that.

No sorry maybe you misunderstand, When they say it can support 24Mbps only the 3.0 devices with HS can between eachother
They do this by establishing the 802.11 between themselves. The 802 radio is built in to the bluetooth device.

What this means is you need both devices to be 3.0+HS to get those speeds and to use thier built in 802.11

4.0 has been developed and should be on new phones and tv's soon, but so far the only benefit I see is a lower power consumption.

personally i think bluetooths on its way out :P put it all through the router, if your sending stuff to a smart phone there are apps that can turn your phone into a server over the router fairly handy.
