    Laptop Monitor not working

    I need some advice.

While attempting to clean out my husband's fan on his laptop, I think I may have disconnected the monitor?

I have cleaned it out before without much issue but this time I was having trouble taking the plastic housing off to get access to the fan. I finally got it separated enough that I could clean it.

However, once I turned the laptop on, I hear it powering up, but the screen is completely black.

I assume I may have disconnected the ribbon? Any ideas?

I want to open it back up and look but am a little fearful now. I want to know where I should look before diving in.

He has a Compaq Persario F700 series.

    Thanks!

I will try that now. I found this:
How to disassemble Compaq Presario F700 notebook >> Inside my laptop

Which shows me how to take it apart, which I can see now I did incorrectly. I tried to just take the bottom housing off and did not touch the top. I can see where the LCD ribbon is now though. I am going to try your suggestion and report back.

I feel silly, it was just the LCD ribbon. After looking at the website I realized I could just pop the top plastic part up and check there and it was definitely unattached.

    Thanks :)
