    SSD compatibility questions


    I've been looking at ssds and was wondering if there is any possible compatibility issues I need to know about. my motherboard is a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 with 8 gigs of G Skill ddr3 and the cpu is an intel core i5. Also, is it possible to transfer everything from my present drive or will I have to reinstall the OS on the SSD. Thanks! :)

    I don't see any compatability problems. Just be sure your sata controllers are in AHCI mode. It is always better to do a clean install, but you can transfer the OS to the ssd. You would probably need to use the spinning hard drive for the User files (pictures, documents, music ect.) and have just the OS and programs on the SSD. Hrer is a good tutorial about transfering the OS to SSD. But the easiest and fastest way is Paragon Migrate. It will do everything for you. It is not free ($19.95) but is almost foolproof. I would recommend you move your User files before the migration and change to AHCI mode, if you are not set up that way now.
