I personally like to buy a regular 2.5" laptop drive and a case to go with it. Saves you about $20 compared to the factory made and takes about two minutes to put together.

    Newegg.com - Vantec NexStar CX 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive/SSD Enclosure (Supports 7mm, 9.5mm, 12.5mm HDD/SSD) - Model NST-200S2-BK

Pick a drive with the capacity you need. I wouldn't pay extra for a super fast drive since it's going to be running off a USB port anyway.

There is no best. Many of us prefer to buy the drive and enclosure separately, but if you don't want to go that route, just pick one from a reputable brand that fits your needs for size and cost. It seems like you are overanalyzing what should be a very simple decision.

    Hi Becron.

Given all best advice above. You shall find it easier to pick which suit your need. Not to justify the way you asked, I think you may pick the factory made which come with removable case.
Other important thing is about how you handle it. Always have it properly connected. While connected and running, keep it at steady surface, avoid shaking it to much. It tolerates shaking to certain degree only. Those simple tips isn't a guarantee. But you shall expect more by doing best.
If you already familiar with it, you may ignore my advice.
